Researchers from the University College Cork carried out a study that suggests that female orgasm can increase the chance of conception by almost 15%. The research recorded self-induced orgasms in women within the span of two months, they found that the chances of conception increased significantly when the women experienced orgasm, reports Shivali Best, Mail Online.

To participants in the study included six women who were aged between 26 and 52, they were asked to record their orgasms at home and to use also use semen simulants with collection devices.
The control of the process was down to the woman, she could decide during which of the exercises she would orgasm. The outcome of each of the exercise was decided by a funny a common technique of a coin flip, one hour ahead.
This outcome was decided with a flip of a coin, one hour ahead of each ‘exercise’.
According to the study, ‘while the “masturbation not leading to orgasm” condition did create some issues of sexual frustration, all participants retained in the study reported success with the procedure.’
When the exercise was complete, either the orgasm was achieved or not the women would insert 5ml of semen simulant which is a water-based lubricant, after which they would insert a collection device that measured how much amount of semen retained.

The results revealed that the women that climaxed retained more of the semen simulants than the others. In the published report in the Journal Socioaffective Neuroscience & Psychology, ‘It appears that female orgasm does perform some sort of sperm-retention function.’
As a result of this, researches have postulated that retaining more semen, women who climaxed increased their chance of conceiving.
It’s also worthy to note that the amount of women in the study is very low, the research will need to be broadened. The findings also indicate that orgasm can be increased between 10 and 15 per cent.
Dr Robert King, who led the study, told The Irish Examiner: ‘I think there is a proof of concept there’
